Key West Wanderings I – Feb 2015 – Dolphin DaysWith temps expected to be in the high 70s and winds under 10 knots it was looking like a good boating day, one of the few we have seen this year. Now all we needed was the heavy morning fog to lift, which it did by 10am. So off we headed into back country towards Marvin Key hoping to find some dolphins, turtles or other marine life. With little wind the waters were gorgeous and as we cruised thru Jewfish Basin we spotted a Bottlenose Dolphin, then another and another, before we knew it 3 pods of about a dozen animals each converged all around us, playing and frolicking in the 3-4 foot deep shallows. Especially fun were the babies who swam and rolled about under our bow. After a solid 90 minutes we headed off to Marvin Key with 400+ Dolphin photos and some underwater video.
